The following items must be turned in the first week of class for credit toward the final project grade:

Reminder

Block 1 Students

This Friday is the turn in date for your completed project.  Please review the information packet for details on all of the required items. 


Block 2 Students

Your research paper should be completed by next week.  Try to stay on schedule so that your project will be completed on time.  You should begin your experiment after your research is done.  Be sure to follow the guidelines stated in the information packet.  See Mrs. Gendron or Mr. Rowden if you have any questions.

Attention

Block 1 Students

The deadline for the Science Fair project is November 30.  You must turn in a completed project to receive a grade.  Please talk to Mr. Rowden or Mrs. Gendron if you have any questions.

Block 2 Students

Block 1 Science Students

You should be well on your way to finishing your research paper.  Friday is the assigned day for the research paper to be completed.  The paper should be 4 to 8 typed pages.  See the Science Fair packet for more information.  Be sure to save a digital copy of your final draft.

When your research is complete, you should start working on your materials, procedure and experiment.  Have your logbook ready so that you can start making entries as you plan and conduct your experiment.

Special Approval

The deadline for special approval has been extended to October 19th.  Read the following to see if your project requires special approval:

"ALL projects which deal with the following conditions or test subjects MUST be submitted for review and approval before students initiate projects.
·         All microorganisms whether known or unknown, or any potential pathogens
·         Non‐human vertebrate organisms including all cells, tissue, body fluids, embryos or fetuses, and eggs (indicate gestational age),
·         All human subjects (including all human cells, tissue, body fluids and all behavioral science projects)
·         Prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco product and any other restricted or controlled substances,
·         Potentially hazardous biological or chemical materials/substances,
·         Recombinant DNA technologies,
·         Potentially hazardous equipment, devices or practices such as those dealing with firearms, explosive materials, radiation."

Block 1 Science Students Hypothesis

The hypothesis for all Block 1 students is due this week.  After your teacher approves your project, you need to turn in your hypothesis, independent variable, dependent variable and control.  You should type this and save it on your computer.  This will be part of the final project folder. 

The following image shows what this page should look like in your folder.  See the Hypothesis section of the Information Packet for the correct format for each section.

Special Forms

Don't forget to check out the the Special Forms section.  There is a form wizard that will guide you through which forms are needed to have the opportunity to participate in the GNOSEF Science Fair.  These forms are due by October 13 for both Block 1 and Block 2 students.  The forms can be given to Mrs. Gendron or Mr. Rowden.
